Who is Catherine Bach?
Catherine Bach is 65 years old today. She was born in Warren, Ohio as Catherine Bachman on March 1, 1954, to a mother of Mexican descent and raised as the daughter of a real rancher on a ranch in South Dakota.
After studying art at UCLA, she changed her name from Bachman to Bach and made her debut in the 1973 Burt Lancaster film The Midnight Man. There she played the role of the murderer student Natalie.
The Midnight Man was soon followed by a role in the 1974 detective film Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, where Bach starred alongside Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges as Melody. She followed that with Hustle in 1975 as Peggy Summers, in which she had a small role alongside movie legends Burt Reynolds and Catherine Deneuve.
Soon after Lightfoot, Bach landed the role that made her a global TV superstar. From her husband David Shaw (to whom Bach married in 1976), Bach heard about an audition for the new CBS action comedy The Dukes of Hazzard, which will star Tom Wopat and John Schneider as Luke and Bo Duke.
She is noted for playing Daisy Duke in the American comedy series The Dukes of Hazzard. Bach also starred in other popular TV series such as African Skies and The Young and the Restless. While most people know Catherine from The Dukes of Hazzard, the star has starred in many other movies and TV series.
Where is Catherine Bach Now?
Bach got another regular gig in 2012 when she joined the CBS soap opera The Young And The Restless, a show she still performs to this day as Anita Lawson. Though Anita Lawson never became an iconic figure like Daisy Duke, there’s no doubt that the Wisconsin performance revived Bach’s career.
Since its debut in 1973, there have been over 12,000 episodes! That’s not to say Bach’s career was a solid step towards stardom. Along the way, she starred in flops such as 1992’s Rage of Honor as Capt Murdock, the motorcycle thriller Masters of Menace cleverly titled Kitty Wheeler, and 1989’s Criminal Act as Pam Weiss.
Now 68, Bach has been married twice, once to David Shaw – the stepchild of star Angela Lansbury – whom she divorced in 1981 after just five years of marriage, and to lawyer Peter Lopez.
Tragically, in 2010, after 20 years of marriage to Bach, Lopez was found dead on suspicion of suicide. He is survived by two daughters he shares with Bach, Sophia and Laura. Bach never remarried.
Today, more than 30 years after the comedy show ended, celebrity physiques are still quite enviable. She has an hourglass figure with a measurement of 39-25-37 inches in bust-waist-hip ratio. When she was young, she kept in shape by dancing for about three hours a day, swimming and hiking.
How Does Catherine Bach or Daisy Duke Look Like Now?
Catherine Bach became a global sex symbol playing the gorgeous Daisy Duke in the hit action comedy series The Dukes of Hazzard in the late ’70s and ’80s – but on Sunday, the 68-year-old actress dropped out swapped her signature hotpants for gym pants as she stepped out for retail therapy in Los Angeles.
Nearly four decades have passed since the hit show ended, but Bach’s legacy as the on-screen mermaid Daisy lives on – as does the popularity of the tiny shorts she wore. It was so popular to wear, that many people still refer to the denim shorts as ‘Daisy Dukes’ to this day.
But the infamous shorts were out of sight as Bach enjoyed a sunny outing over the weekend, when she was photographed wearing an all-black gym suit while visiting the high-end grocery store Erewhon.
Bach looks like she’s gearing up for a workout, in her tracksuit – and the water bottle she’s carrying when she’s pictured outside the posh organic grocery store.
Although decades have passed since the actress last took on the role of Daisy Duke, the character remains a pop culture icon. Jessica Simpson revived the role in 2005 in a remake, also starring Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott. .
Simpson’s portrayal of Daisy revived the popularity of the character’s iconic trousers, sparking a new trend of sky-high hems that began almost immediately after the show. The original began airing in January 1979.
Why is Catherine Bach the Same as Daisy Duke?
Catherine is pictured with her signature brown hair, albeit a bit shorter than in her “Dukes of Hazzard” days, while posing for the paparazzi. She definitely feels confident in her own skin.
The actress is best known for playing the super sexy Daisy Duke in the popular 80s TV series “Dukes of Hazzard”. Catherine discovered the role through her then-husband, David Shaw. While the casting directors were looking for someone to look like Dolly Parton, Bach was hired on the spot! From her long legs to her million dollar smile, there’s no denying her charm.
Catherine Bach as Daisy Duke isn’t considered the main attraction of The Dukes of Hazzard, but viewers who watched the show have appreciated her as much as cousins Bo and Luke.
Daisy spent the day serving tables at Boar’s Nest and broke hearts in cropped denim shorts – the style today known as Daisy Dukes. You know you’re a cultural icon when the style of hot pants you used to wear now has your name on it. It’s hard to find The Dukes Of Hazzard on TV these days, but everyone knows who Daisy Dukes was.
