A lot of people don’t even know that there were a ton of 80s pop queens. This includes not only the biggies like Madonna and Celine Dion but also all the other amazing artists from the decade. So today we’re going to take a look at some of these ladies and see which ones you may have forgotten about or never even heard about before!

Celine Dion

Celine Dion is a multi-platinum selling Canadian singer and actress who rose to fame in the late 1980s with her song “My Heart Will Go On”, which was nominated for an Oscar in 1998 for Best Original Song. She is also known for her powerful voice and range, having sung opera, jazz and pop ballads. Her songs “I’m Your Angel” and “The Power of the Dream” were both #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She has sold more than 200 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling artists in music history.

Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston was one of the most popular singers of the 80s, as well as one of the most talented vocalists. She had a string of hit singles, including “I Will Always Love You”, “The Greatest Love Of All” and “How Will I Know”, which all peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Her song “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” became her signature song and was used in commercials for Coca-Cola and Sprite soda. She also became known for her dramatic performances on stage and during her concerts, which made headlines when she carried a piano on stage during an awards ceremony in 1989 and it wasn’t even her piano!

Gloria Estefan

Gloria Estefan didn’t have a single hit in the US, but she had one huge international hit with her song “Conga” from the movie Miami Vice. She has sold over 25 million records worldwide! In addition to being an established singer for more than 20 years, she is also an accomplished actress, television producer, businesswoman and philanthropist. Based on her musical contributions, she is now ranked among the top ten most influential Latin artists of all time by Billboard magazine.

Madonna

Madonna is a globally recognized pop music icon and one of the most commercially successful female artists in history. She has sold over 200 million records worldwide, winning many awards, including an Oscar, four Grammy Awards, 20 MTV Video Music Awards, three Brit Awards, five American Music Awards and two Billboard Music Awards. Her song “Like A Virgin” reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and remains one of her signature songs today.

Cher

Cher is widely known as America’s Sweetheart due to her success in music and acting during the 1970s and 80s and is considered one of America’s greatest female singers ever based on her commercial success as well as her numerous awards and accolades. She is one of the best-selling female artists in music history with over 100 million records sold worldwide, including 25 US #1 singles.
